Caught half-way between a vision of the classic and Jean Paul Gaultier’s infinite passion for theatricality, the designer’s fall / winter 2013 collection for men was modern, but impregnated with a profuse sense of vintage. After witnessing the sharp tailoring and the neutral color palette, one would be tempted to fall for the wearable character veiling the clothes, but then again, it would be harder not to.
Leaving aside Jean Paul Gaultier’s signature half-jackets, the detachable tail skirts and the men’s sheer lace top, the collection gains a different perspective, more so as the main accent can easily fall on the exquisite tailoring and sharp cuts. For a little extra drama let the focus steer back to the shirts cropped to the rib cage, the long black leather gloves and pinstripe shoes matching some of the suits.
The look book offers a glimpse over the fashionable hybrid set to push the boundaries for fall 2013: a half biker jacket flawlessly attached to the left side of a slick coat is intriguing and unexpected enough.
