Upon taking a closer look at the modern silhouettes building Kay Li’s elegant take on fall / winter 2013 fashion, one would never guess that the actual inspiration lying behind the collection explores the connection between women and horses. Painted in a surreal tone, the theme influencing the effortless statement pieces spans over matters of freedom and entrapment, restraint and final surrender.
Translating into wide sleeves, scarf collars and sloping shoulders, the dreamlike incentive creates a display of simple, yet structured everyday looks, coated in a conventional fall colour palette of black, grey, cobalt blue and rusty orange. The use of fabric includes a play on marvellous silk, that alongside the more traditional wool speak for the modern day sophistication and classic style.
Modeled by Erica H. and photographed by Mannbutte, Kay Li’s fall/winter 2013 look book pays tribute to the never-ending game in which transparency and asymmetry join forces with a more severe construction.
