Refined minimalism: Ksenia Schnaider A/W ’14

When talking neoprene, quilted leather, mat silk, cashmere, wool and rough denim to be shaping a contemporary collection of autumn essentials, a refined simplicity becomes mandatory in keeping up with the luxurious range of fabrics. For that reason, Ksenia Schnaider’s fall / winter 2014 offering is all about finding that perfect balance between functionality and beauty, femininity and unisex, while laying its foundation on uniform, sportswear and military clothes.

Envisioned as means of disguise, and set to carry forward a basic palette of colours like black, grey, beige and white (with the occasional splashes of scarlet and electric blue), the minimalist clothes reflect bits and pieces of the unstable situation in Ukraine, their apparent simplicity of cutting nothing but an illusion. The studio’s iconic peaceful camouflage is being reimagined in the guise of knitted patterns, while the outerwear proportions are being kept ideal.

A smart play on volume, on innovative prints, on both ladylike and unisex silhouettes, Ksenia Schnaider’s fall / winter 2014 collection marks a beautiful return to easy sophistication.
