Shell Belle lingerie: all aboard the Orient Express

If Shell Belle’s fall 2013 lingerie look book conjures up a little of the exoticism that excited the upper classes in the 1920s and ’30s, it’s because it was inspired by the luxurious passageways of the Venice-Simplon Orient Express. Aboard the train – then, and still now within our imaginations – were the most glamorous of passengers: the woman who wore sensual French leavers lace in the boudoir and Venetian stripe silk pyjamas to lounge in.

Shell Belle’s slip dresses are the kind that you can throw on with heels and wear as dresses. The Rendezvous in Venice collection also introduces a coco print inspired by vintage animal silks, and a sensual dahlia shade.

It’s true that the magic of traveling to romantic destinations never dies, but if you can’t be aboard the orient express – well, a collection that invokes its spirit must be the next best thing.
