I'm 25, I work hard and I like to party (not that I party often these days - the curse that is Brisbane :P). Black hair, dark brown eyes, pale olive skin, mixed-race. I'd love a change soon, because partying here just doesn't compare with partying in, say, Scotland or Germany.
My Style
I have a bit of a trainwreck style. I love the following: patterns and colours, an asymmetrical cut, unexpected fabrics... and I do love a good puffy/oversized/ruffled/asymmetrical sleeve. I usually dress in layers. Colourful chunky jewellery, hair flowers/fascinators, tattoos, lots of hosiery, red lipstick, and stretched earlobes make up the rest :)
I love tees (I have a mean t-shirt collection), but when I 'dress up' it usually in 40s retro-styled dresses with hosiery, heels, and a little dash of psychobilly for good measure.Favourite Labels
I'll wear clothes from any label (or "non-label") if I like them, but I have soft spot for Religion, Laura Lees Label, Christopher Kane, Viktor & Rolf, Fruentimmer, Easton Pearson, Jojo & Malou, Stop Staring, Margarita Saplala, See by Chloe, Anna Sui, Bim Kenesis, and Trelise Cooper. I also like and own some of the pieces from the Blacklist label (classic/Edwardian with a very slight bondage twist).
For jewellery, my favourite is definitely Tarina Tarantino.
For casual wear, I like adidas Originals, Religion, Stella McCartney for adidas, Harajuku Lovers, and my t-shirt collection combined with chainstore pieces.Best Feature
I like my eyebrows (they're naturally arched and full, and I can raise each individually due to my full control of my brow muscles, haha), but any compliments I receive are usually about my hair. It's very thick, and really curly and full. To me, a good hair day is equivalent to a big hair day. It's been every colour except white and green, but this year I'm going au naturel - back to the black.Something You Should Know
I want to move to a cold country so that I can wear winter clothes all the time.Interests
I don't really have any "hobbies" as such, but I have recently taken up sewing again. My aim is to increase my sewing skills to the point where I can make my own vintage reproduction dresses. I spend a lot of time on weekends shopping for clothing and fabric, but I buy most of my clothes from online retailers in the UK and US, and from Australian sites that support local designers.
My background is in criminal law, and in Japanese/South Pacific cultural studies with a focus on gender. This may explain my obsessions with Japanese modern fiction and anything crime-related on TV/in books.
I love overseas travel. I spent more than a quarter of last year in UK, Europe and Southeast Asia (mostly for work, but also for fun) and it was fantastic. This year I'm heading to the Mediterranean again for work, but I would also like to travel in Scandinavia and more extensively in eastern Europe.
Although I'm not expert, I also love art galleries and modern artwork. I've amassed quite a nice little collection of prints, t-shirts and books from my favourite artists. Yoshitomo Nara, David Shrigley, the late Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Angelique Houtkamp are some favourites.Hates
Racism, snooty people, and people who routinely drive 20km/h under the speed limit in the right-hand lane in fine weather.Music
I like a variety of music. A few favourites are: Sigur Rós, The Knife, CocoRosie, Mogwai, Peaches, Mu, The Gossip, The Raveonettes, Laurie Anderson, Feist, Death From Above 1979, Amiina, and Asobi Seksu.Movies
Wong Kar-Wai's Fallen Angels is my all-time favourite movie. I also love Jang-Sun Woo's Lies, Once Were Warriors, and (more recently) Little Miss Sunshine.Television
The L Word, Oz, The Sopranos, The Iron Chef, House, and Love My Way are guilty pleasures.Reading
Any books written by Murakami Ryu, especially Coin Locker Babies and Piercing. Snakes and Earrings by Kanehara Hitomi is brilliant. Other favourite authors are Banana Yoshimoto and Lana Citron.
For non-fiction, I like to read anthropological studies of ancient and modern historical South Pacific cultures (geek alert :) ). And I subscribe to my two favourite magazines, National Geographic and Australian Gourmet Traveller.Smoking
