40s elegance, capes, and furs in Vogue US

Coco Rocha, a cable knit cape, and an old-fashioned bicycle. Models in Balenciaga frocks playing croquet. Draping gowns in smoky bars. It's the epitome of 40s glamour, and while we only yesterday mentioned Natasha Poly's shoot for Vogue Paris as one of our favourites for September 2009, this one - though a complete contrast - also makes the list.
My favourite shot? This Ralph Lauren outfit from the designer's Autumn(Fall)/Winter 2009/2010 collection was paired with Hermes riding boots for a 1940s masculine elegance that fits well into the female dandy trend of 2010.

There aren't too many alpha-females out there and, though she might deny it, Tania Braukamper certainly exudes their qualities. A keen eye, a focused approach, and a wardrobe spanning three rooms have made her one of the savviest of dressers. But it's not all couture for Tania, earning her fashionista credentials she'll frequently be seen on the town in a one-off, vintage dress and a pair of Gucci heels.
