If you were to shoot a ’50s themed editorial with nudity you might hit upon an aesthetic that lends itself naturally to the task; like ’50s pin-up, or teenage rockabilly delinquent. Not photographer Henrique Gendre. He approached it with wholesome housewifey goodness, and the result is like a surprise bit of skin where you least expect it. It’s less sexual, and more as if stylist Luis Fiod simply hadn’t quite gotten around to completing the outfits yet.
Accessories are important to any candy-coloured 1950s look (headscarves and cat eye glasses included) – so much so, the shoot seems to say, that you might not even need that silly old blouse.
