Able to cause a stir to the last, British designer Alexander McQueen has been been found dead in London. Having passed away only days after the death of his mother, it is believed that McQueen took is own life.
McQueen’s final fashion collection, his Autumn (Fall) / Winter 2010 / 2011 work, was due to be presented in early March during Paris Fashion Week. It’s too early to say if that will still go ahead, though I’m sure many will join me in hoping it will sit as a final, albeit tragically posthumous, triumph.

McQueen’s official site has released the following statement:
ON BEHALF OF LEE MCQUEEN’S FAMILY, ALEXANDER MCQUEEN TODAY ANNOUNCES THE TRAGIC NEWS THAT LEE MCQUEEN, THE FOUNDER AND DESIGNER OF THE ALEXANDER MCQUEEN BRAND HAS BEEN FOUND DEAD AT HIS HOME. AT THIS STAGE IT IS INAPPROPRIATE TO COMMENT ON THIS TRAGIC NEWS BEYOND SAYING THAT WE ARE DEVASTATED AND ARE SHARING A SENSE OF SHOCK AND GRIEF WITH LEE’S FAMILY.
LEE’S FAMILY HAS ASKED FOR PRIVACY IN ORDER TO COME TO TERMS WITH THIS TERRIBLE NEWS AND WE HOPE THE MEDIA WILL RESPECT THIS.
