Makeup, candy and landscapes collide in this story by photographer Stanley Patzold, overlaid into a surrealist mix of colour and collage. Surreal the collage of beauty and landscape may seem, but on closer look the confections mirror the states of nature: the titular Portia decides whether the sun rises or sets depending on which lollypop she tastes; liquorice wheels swirl like the sun’s glow. In one shot she rises from the waves like a candy Venus, perfectly pastiched in alignment with the waves.
