I used to have a penchant for collecting concept art for cinematic posters – it was fascinating to see the progression of a poster as its artist attempted to strike a balance between conceptual art and the necessity for a certain star’s head to be bigger than their co-star (the most obscure things are in detailed in a film’s contract). Fashion magazine covers are developed in a similar fashion, though it would seem that it’s less a case of artistic integrity and more a case of finding the right text to sell copies. Model Coco Rocha has been gracious enough to provide us with a rare glimpse of the process in the form of a draft cover for her recent Elle UK feature.
