For a magazine covered by fallen popstar Britney Spears, the topic of blonde hair seems fitting. The said magazine is POP‘s Fall/Winter 2010 issue, and the hair colour discussion comes by way of an essay written by Dr Sarah Churchwell. Churchwell’s article looks at blondness as a phenomenon, and the stereotypes (gender based, she reasons) that go with it. Hold up, I hear you say – it takes a doctorate to conclude that blondes are stereotyped?! We highly doubt that – but the hair colour stereotype is well worth exploring in a world where the way we look and dress can not only shape but define us.
So all that said we’ll get to the pictures. Accompanying the essay is an epic pictorial of pretty much every blonde model you can think of, and a few non-blondes too. There are some obvious ones missing – Lara Stone for example – and some shots are better than others. But all in all, it’s well worth a flick through.
