We included a number of interpretations of brown hues in our fall / winter 2010 colour trends feature. Often an overlooked and derided colour, brown, and all its related shades, can instead strike the perfect balance between a fading, sunburnt summer and the coming burnt hues of many a deciduous tree. It’s simply the name that does it an injustice: brown – horrible word, worse connotations. Called ‘chocolate truffle’ or ‘dark oak’ however, and suddenly the stigma is gone. So for those desiring to work marron into their wardrobe for the season, here’s a near-perfect interpretation sporting a pop of yellow and a take on socks in heels.

brown street style

This looks comes courtesy of the ever talented Vanessa Jackman and was snapped during Milan fashion week.

It would be great to know the designer, but I guess you can't always when it's street style. I would think one could reproduce this look by using two scarves rather than cut up a dress to change one sleeve. In fact, this may just inspire one of my next spring designs! Voirrey, So Voirrey

Late one Oxford night Daniel P Dykes set about creating a fashion publication that would go someway to being an arbiter on fashion as it appeals to the emerging power generations: those who don't remember a world without the Internet and for whom work plays second fiddle to pleasure. And so Fashionising.com was born as a publication for those who were focussed not just on fashion's trends, but on society's too, and how those trends could all go to heighten the art of living. Hence, Daniel sees a future where, for those young at heart, both fashion and style are grounded in traditional quality, but with a youthful, sensualised edge. Daniel is Fashionising.com's Editor in Chief and Chairman.
