Cushnie et Ochs Spring 2010 wows us

Written by Daniel P Dykes

Cushnie et Ochs see themselves a label for women with a heightened sense of sexuality, and women who want to blur the line between sexy and sophisticated. With the use of some of the most alluring 2010 fashion trends, though not exclusively from the Spring 2010 season, I can confidently proclaim that they have created a collection guaranteed to appeal to the women they had in mind when they put needle to cloth.

Cushnie et Ochs

The brainchild of designing duo Carly Cushnie and Michelle Ochs, their Spring/Summer 2010 collection hit a catwalk of New York Fashion Week with so much infused sex even Max Azria may sit up and take note. Whether the trends used fell into the sheer or the cut-away (but to name a few), they all presented as young and highly sexualised, yet seldom did such qualities detract from their ready-to-wear nature.

Traditionalist and futurist are two of the labels applied to Daniel, but he sees the two as being in perfect balance. With a keen eye on the future and his finger on the pulse he helps keep fashionisers everywhere ahead in the fashion stakes as Fashionising.com's lead fashion trend analyst. Believing that the late-2000s credit crisis will be ultimately good for fashion, Daniel sees a future for fashion where grounded in traditional values; where luxury fashion again comes to represent quality production as opposed to being solely label driven.

Currently based in Melbourne, Daniel is Fashionising.com's Editor in Chief and Chairman.
