Sexed-up vintage. That’s how House of Sunny’s 2011 lookbook was described to me when it landed in my inbox, along with the prediction that I’d be smitten (thanks for the heads up, Allan). Not far wrong. Not least do I love a discovery, but I love the ability for something to be both wearable and a statement. In building up a curated wardrobe, in culling the average and keeping the stand-out, we need a few good statement pieces. And House of Sunny has huge potential in that area.
Number one piece in my book is this dress: a corseted variant of the places the sheer trend got to on the fall 2011 runways. It’s like Louis Vuitton’s kinky sheer skirts, only interpreted for greater wearability. This bubbly little umbrella of sheer black fabric topped by a modern print is one I’d gladly welcome into my wardrobe.
