Miranda Kerr. Was ever there a more ridiculously perfect being? Walking the runway at today’s David Jones Autumn (Fall)/Winter 2009 collections launch in Melbourne, Kerr reminded us all of why she’s in such high demand. But she was not the only star of the show: no less than 21 of Australia’s most loved designers showcased a selection of their finest winter pieces.

Sitting front row were a host of well known faces; from Miranda’s beau Orlando Bloom, to brand ambassador Megan Gale, to designers including the likes of Collette Dinnigan and Lisa Gorman.

The parade opened with a strong winter look – the military trend. Lisa Ho manifested the trend in the form of a midnight blue, slim-fitted coat with gold button detailing. More striking pieces by Ho followed, before Willow’s pieces of silk crepe and tulle sashayed their way down the runway.

Sheer pieces featured prominently throughout the parade, proving the continuation of the trend in 2009. Menswear was sharp and tailored, with Calibre and AG by Arthur Galan making up the menswear component of the show. The parade closed with Sass & Bide’s trademark mix of edginess and glamour.

Some people's wardrobes are about a small selection of pieces that all fit within one aesthetic - Tania Braukamper isn't such a person. With a wardrobe that spans three different rooms, her approach to fashion is a mixture of current-season key pieces mixed with vintage finds she's sourced on innumerous shopping trips around the world's more cultured capitals. Despite a disparate approach to shopping, Tania is adamant that the key to mixing vintage with new season is to stick to key looks and colours that work for oneself. And it's a theory that she works into her writing for Fashionising.com, where she serves as the publication's Editor.
