There’s a fine line between demurely sexy and demurely dowdy, and admittedly you sometimes have to be Magdalena Frackowiak not to cross it. Or at least you need to have a little of the innate sexuality that seems to flow so freely from her, lest your twin set and ’80s perm end up looking nothing but, well, ’80s.

In the case of Magdalena’s fairy floss shoot for Vogue Japan, the fluffy curls are at their best when gently tucked under a cinematically large hat, or when attended to with a little more of a vintage touch. Not counted thus far as a hair trend for 2012, the frizzy puff of curls still is well suited to the mood of soft pastels and voluminous accessories.

Some people's wardrobes are about a small selection of pieces that all fit within one aesthetic - Tania Braukamper isn't such a person. With a wardrobe that spans three different rooms, her approach to fashion is a mixture of current-season key pieces mixed with vintage finds she's sourced on innumerous shopping trips around the world's more cultured capitals. Despite a disparate approach to shopping, Tania is adamant that the key to mixing vintage with new season is to stick to key looks and colours that work for oneself. And it's a theory that she works into her writing for Fashionising.com, where she serves as the publication's Editor.
