Granny takes a (psychedelic) trip

Crocheted “granny squares” had a brief moment on the runway last year, lead by Christopher Kane. But for the most part they’re not something we think of as the relevant to crochet as fashion. That’s no issue here, though: Diana Melfi’s shoot Granny Takes a Trip may be inspired by granny squares, but not in the way that you might think. Instead she took her grandmother’s meticulously crocheted blankets and used them as backdrops to a psychedelic series of photos, with makeup artist Pia Lorena Bedregal creating a beauty look to match for each.

Vibrantly photographed, Gradma may be taking a trip but she’s certainly taking us with her. Take off your shoes and enjoy the ride. View the full shoot at the gallery above.

Some people's wardrobes are about a small selection of pieces that all fit within one aesthetic - Tania Braukamper isn't such a person. With a wardrobe that spans three different rooms, her approach to fashion is a mixture of current-season key pieces mixed with vintage finds she's sourced on innumerous shopping trips around the world's more cultured capitals. Despite a disparate approach to shopping, Tania is adamant that the key to mixing vintage with new season is to stick to key looks and colours that work for oneself. And it's a theory that she works into her writing for Fashionising.com, where she serves as the publication's Editor.
