Home in a far off land

Burberry Prorsum’s spring 2012 collection is a winning combination of tactile fabrics and autumnal colourways that transcend the season. From it, we picture the exoticism of warm days and the creeping chill of cool nights. We imagine pieces that serve the world traveller from location to location, season to season, with long-lasting elegance and versatility.

In this shoot by Kelly Defina, the organic hues of Burberry Prorsum’s pieces are the palette that shapes our vision of a travel wardrobe. Bronzed Australian beauty Laura Andric is our muse. Burberry’s straw caps and wrap dresses are her wardrobe staples; the understated luxury in which she spends her holiday afternoons. For more ostentatious affairs she turns to Lanvin jewels and Etro’s exotic prints, or a slice of home with local labels Nicholas and Ellery. By the midday sun she’s just as glamorous in vintage swimwear pieces from the likes of Missoni and La Perla.

With the right pieces in her suitcase, anywhere she travels becomes a home away from home.

Beauty Note: Makeup artist Shev Kelly at Napoleon Perdis was inspired by effortless luxury with a focus on bronze and gold. An understated glamorous sheen to the eyes and skin were added to highlight natural contours, complimented by an elongated black liner to accentuate the eyes. Subtle sheer shades of rose and peach for the cheeks and lip completed the sophisticated design.

Hair, styled by Leonie Karagiannis, was kept tousled in a mix of vintage elegance and modern carelessness – or wrapped up into an easy topknot for day-to-night glamour.

Some people's wardrobes are about a small selection of pieces that all fit within one aesthetic - Tania Braukamper isn't such a person. With a wardrobe that spans three different rooms, her approach to fashion is a mixture of current-season key pieces mixed with vintage finds she's sourced on innumerous shopping trips around the world's more cultured capitals. Despite a disparate approach to shopping, Tania is adamant that the key to mixing vintage with new season is to stick to key looks and colours that work for oneself. And it's a theory that she works into her writing for Fashionising.com, where she serves as the publication's Editor.
