No sooner do I consider re-taking up fencing as a sporting pursuit that the fashion industry immediately jumps on board. Milkshake’s recent issue gave us a taste of fashionable fencing and now Elle Italia has followed suit showing Australian model Jessica Hart coming to grips with the point of the sport (terrible pun, I know) while looking every bit chic in Gucci.

Admittedly it’s not that fencing has suddenly become a sport de jour; rather fashionable sportswear is one of Spring 2010‘s leading trends and fencing’s equipment makes for iconic motifs in a photo shoot. It’s also far cheaper to shoot a pictorial around fencing than it is around the true sport de jour: polo. Given I make attempts to pursue that sport as well, I’m greatly looking forward to the pictorial which features it.

Late one Oxford night Daniel P Dykes set about creating a fashion publication that would go someway to being an arbiter on fashion as it appeals to the emerging power generations: those who don't remember a world without the Internet and for whom work plays second fiddle to pleasure. And so Fashionising.com was born as a publication for those who were focussed not just on fashion's trends, but on society's too, and how those trends could all go to heighten the art of living. Hence, Daniel sees a future where, for those young at heart, both fashion and style are grounded in traditional quality, but with a youthful, sensualised edge. Daniel is Fashionising.com's Editor in Chief and Chairman.
