My calendar has only just flipped over to November 2010 and yet I can already impart a hard and fast rule for 2011′s fashion trends: if intending to partake in the year’s jumpsuit trend be wary, very wary, of flared jumpsuits. Yes, 70s fashion may be having a major impact on current trends. Yes, Kate Moss might have donned a jumpsuit with flares. But no, it didn’t look quite right.

And therein lies the problem: in reflection, Moss’ greatest contribution to fashion is arguably neither her modelling nor her Topshop collection – it’s her ability to style outfits and, thus, set trends. And while she’s on trend with her fringe (it being a 2011 hair trend), jumpsuit, and bell bottoms, the combination of the latter two detract from the overall look.

Late one Oxford night Daniel P Dykes set about creating a fashion publication that would go someway to being an arbiter on fashion as it appeals to the emerging power generations: those who don't remember a world without the Internet and for whom work plays second fiddle to pleasure. And so Fashionising.com was born as a publication for those who were focussed not just on fashion's trends, but on society's too, and how those trends could all go to heighten the art of living. Hence, Daniel sees a future where, for those young at heart, both fashion and style are grounded in traditional quality, but with a youthful, sensualised edge. Daniel is Fashionising.com's Editor in Chief and Chairman.
