When we found out that the ‘Heros’ issue of V Magazine would honour Elizabeth Taylor, we knew we’d be in for lots of eyebrows and lots of glamour. It’s only fitting, after all; plus with Carine Roitfeld and Mario Testino working on the project we could only expect some big names to get involved.
Now the cover has been revealed and it’s Kate Winslet that’s wearing the strong makeup and Taylor-like glamour, even though she’s not one whose features we’d readily liken to the dazzling screen starlet of yore. But she more than pulls it off, posed to resemble an iconic image of Taylor holding a string of pearls.
V’s cover is not a copy but an homage, and it’s a nicely done homage at that. The original image of Elizabeth Taylor is above.
