Heralding in next week’s RAFW (Australian fashion week) with a private pre-showing
in Sydney, LIFEWithBird’s spring / summer 2011 collection is a refreshing distraction from the chilly wind outside.

Floating on romanticism and modern classic look, this summer is all about pastels, sheer fabric and soft tailoring.

Titled The Way, designers Nicholas Van Messner and Bridget McCall explore the feeling of rejuvenation. This understated collection is armed with beautiful basics and several layering options.

A chiffon crop top, oversized boyfriend blazer and pleated maxi skirt, all fuel the label’s aesthetic of loose and effortless silhouettes. Their flowy fabric is like a summer dream. The subtle shapes are emphasised by pairing every sheer dress with a figure hugging skin leotard.

Playing on the idea of minimalism, the colour palette is centred on washed out shades of lilac, greys and flesh tones. The most architectural aspect of the look, are the strappy sandals and resin sole wedges in bright tints.

This contemporary and young collection will make you love your skin during the forthcoming warm season, even if the full brunt of the current cold one is yet to be felt.
