LMFF 2009: L'Oreal Paris Runway 2 show-coverage

Written by Tania Braukamper

If there was a running theme through both of last night's L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF) shows, it was ruffles. Barely an outfit went by that didn't have flounces and frills, ruffles and tiers. To compliment, models in L'Oreal Paris Runway 2 sported soft, bouncy waves that flowed and moved with the garments.

Yeojin Bae opened the show with a flowery black and white take on the one-shoulder trend, before Vixen hit the runway in warm paisleys reminiscent of Gucci's Bohemian luxury.

Camilla & Marc rocked pairs of wet-look leggings, and some of the night's most simple but sexy outfits including a leathery halterneck (pictured). Dhini brought Victorian high buttoned necklines and elements of the sheer trend to the runway; T.L Wood moved more into lady-like femininity with pieces that could be taken from the office through to after 5.

With the exception of one hideously 90s striped skivvy, Gorman's collection was wearable and fun, a stand-out piece being a tiered laser-cut minidress. Megan Park abandoned last year's vintage-inspired delicacy in favour of a more tribal edge. Last but not least, keep an eye out in the coverage for Akira's billowing frocks, the designer bringing an oriental touch to the floral wedges and petal-esque detailing of the dresses.

There aren't too many alpha-females out there and, though she might deny it, Tania Braukamper certainly exudes their qualities. A keen eye, a focused approach, and a wardrobe spanning three rooms have made her one of the savviest of dressers. But it's not all couture for Tania, earning her fashionista credentials she'll frequently be seen on the town in a one-off, vintage dress and a pair of Gucci heels.

She says: Vintage will never go out of style
We say: Does that include vintage 80s?
