With swishing high ponytails and bright red lips, models walked the runway for yet another L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF) show, L’Oreal Paris Runway 4.

Much of the clothing reflected the Autumn (Fall)/Winter 2009 trends from the International runways, from the bohemian, folk-inspired details at Nevenka and Obus, to the military trend at Lisa Ho.

There was even a hint of the mermaid trend at Manning Cartell, the designer sending a fish-scale dress down the runway. Thurley’s strength was in the sheer and lace pieces, Ginger & Smart’s in their edgy tribal-inspired ensembles.

Kate Sylvester’s tiny tulle skirts were innocence-lost for the ballerina (pictured above), and Arabella Ramsay put fringed boots – a massive 2009 shoe trend – together with boyfriend jeans and shorts.

Some people's wardrobes are about a small selection of pieces that all fit within one aesthetic - Tania Braukamper isn't such a person. With a wardrobe that spans three different rooms, her approach to fashion is a mixture of current-season key pieces mixed with vintage finds she's sourced on innumerous shopping trips around the world's more cultured capitals. Despite a disparate approach to shopping, Tania is adamant that the key to mixing vintage with new season is to stick to key looks and colours that work for oneself. And it's a theory that she works into her writing for Fashionising.com, where she serves as the publication's Editor.
