The 2009 L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF) program was launched today; and it’s definitely a program to look forward to. As well as the main evening parades, which showcase the best of Australian design talent each year, the festival will also bring a range of other events, exhibitions, and industry initiatives to Melbourne.

LMFF Program Launch 2009

As well as announcing the exciting 2009 program, this morning’s launch also gave us a sneak preview into some of the designs we’ll be seeing on the runway during the festival. From Bettina Liano’s oh-so-now fringed leather dress, to a gorgeous gown by Project Runway winner Juli Grbac, it was a taste that left everyone wanting to see more.

April Rose Pengilly attended the launch as this year’s LMFF Ambassador. Well known for her role as the Youth Ambassador for David Jones, Pengilly has modelled around the world and is represented by famous New York agency, Storm Models. Pengilly promised we’d be seeing plenty more of her when she takes to the catwalk during the festival, so keep an eye on our LMFF coverage.

Some people's wardrobes are about a small selection of pieces that all fit within one aesthetic - Tania Braukamper isn't such a person. With a wardrobe that spans three different rooms, her approach to fashion is a mixture of current-season key pieces mixed with vintage finds she's sourced on innumerous shopping trips around the world's more cultured capitals. Despite a disparate approach to shopping, Tania is adamant that the key to mixing vintage with new season is to stick to key looks and colours that work for oneself. And it's a theory that she works into her writing for Fashionising.com, where she serves as the publication's Editor.
