From the vintage glamour of Megan Park through to the show-stopping sparkle of Martin Grant's closing gown, the second main parade of L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF) was a visual feast.
Photos by Wayne Wong.
Yeojin Bae, winner of last year's Tiffany Designer Award, married structure with graceful femininity in a colour palette that spanned black, navy, purple and grey. View the full gallery of Yeojin Bae here.
Look out for: stunning winter-wear in the form of a long-sleeved navy blue dress with military-inspired piping.
Lee Mathews had a quality that's sort of hard to describe. Somewhere between preppy (especially the high-heeled tennis shoes) and librarian-chic (cardigans and knee-length skirts in deep greens, browns and washed out florals) is probably as best a description as I can give. See for yourself - check out the full photo coverage in the Fashion Diary. Look out for: gorgeous use of the sheer trend on a white ruffled dress.
Megan Park brought vintage glamour to the runway with intricately beaded dresses and wraps complimented by sparkling flapper-inspired necklaces. A perfect example of 2008's modern take on the 1920s trend. View the full Megan Park runway coverage here. Look out for: beautiful detailing in all of the pieces, from scarves to belts to dresses.
Toni Maticevski is never one to disappoint and seeing his amazing gowns float down any runway is a treat. Maticevski's AW08 is not short of show-stoppers; making a usually dull palette of white, nude and black ever the more stunning and exciting. See the full Maticevski runway gallery here. Look out for: pretty much everything, from floor-sweeping sheers to a touch of the Art Deco, particularly in one drop-waisted dress with fanned pleats.
T.L Wood's cuts were immaculate - best for it's autumn basics the collection is overall very wearable and sophisticated. Check out the full set of photos here. Look out for: dainty sunray pleats on a navy and black dress.
Christine played on elements of the tuxedo trend, mixing in luxe materials like satin, velvet, leather and fur. View the full runway coverage of Christine here. Look out for: colourful patent accessories.
Anna Thomas was livened up by bright lilacs and burnt orange. Knee-length skirts and pussy-bow blouses were lady-like and fairly unadventurous, but livened up by shimmering fabrics and cute details. See the full Anna Thomas photo set here. Look out for: lots of wearable basics and some stand-out lilac pieces.
Easton Pearson teamed printed fabrics with exotic gold details. More luxurious fabrics by way of tulle and brocade added to the effect. View the full Easton Pearson gallery. Look out for: Velvet green with gold baubles and brown leather.
Martin Grant closed the show with bright regal purples and metallic foil fabrics. The full gallery can be found here. Look out for: where elegance and disco collide, the shimmering metallic mermaid dress that closed the show.
