There’s a slightly stiff realism to Louis Vuitton’s Cruise 2012 look book that makes me long for the fantasy of the sister campaign, which also stars model Arizona Muse. The former falls short of giving the Parisian cafes and picnics the haze of romance they deserve, but nonetheless the same waved bob and classic makeup make a welcome appearance. The mash of eras – from the 1930s to the 1960s – puts weight behind the modern elements like studded soles on shoes and perforated leather sleeves.
I’m not personally smitten with the boucle jackets, but the mod-inspired skirt suit dotted with bows, and one particularly enchanting white halter vintage style swimsuit, bridge the gap.
