As always with Nirrimi Hakanson‘s work, there’s a stirring of mixed emotion to this shoot that can only come down to a quality of youth. This time it feels bittersweet; the test subject, young model Yani at Australian agency Viviens, has deep pools for eyes that the viewer can’t help but get lost in.
The sense of youthfulness is also in the enviably long hair and freckles. Lace pieces like bodysuits and simple lightweight dresses are the kind of American Apparel fare that’s usually photographed in blindingly overblown situations, not the kind of gentle imagery of bathtubs and autumn’s fallen leaves. But, with Nirrimi’s photography, it more than works.
