Vogue Paris unsurprisingly loves an excuse to celebrate a French beauty, so for their May 2012 issue Laetitia Casta gets a spread showcasing her success as a model but dedicated to her skill as an actress.
Casta, the shoots intro notes, has just starred in four films; one being Les adorés, which Mario Testino’s Vogue Paris shoot specifically plays to. Les adorés is a film adaptation of the book Severe by Régis Jauffret, the real life-inspired story of a wealthy banker murdered (in strange sexual circumstances) by his mistress. The darkly seductive styling by Emmanuelle Alt makes more sense in light of this, as does the inclusion of props like black veils and a gleaming kitchen knife. As always Alt’s biggest strength lies in the use of androgynous looks with tailoring and tuxedos lending a mildly masculine power play to Casta’s character.
