Now I rarely ride bikes, but when I do, sporting bicycle chic unfortunately fails to make it into my list of priorities.
First up, I attempt dodging the traffic, and next, it’s manoeuvring the pedals. If there’s a bell, I’ll usually be distracted by that, and as for a basket – well don’t get me started. I’m the one you’ll see with my maxi hitched up around my thighs, my pixie crop in disarray and my lips cursing sweet nothings at my impractical choice of shoe. Yes, this is why I live in New York not Europe, whereby subways are sanctioned and my daily commute doesn’t rely on my balance.

If you’re Lara Stone however, it seems chic comes with the territory. Yes, as a global supermodel, with serious sense of style, and a fierce set of limbs, transportation probably wouldn’t be a problem if it arrived in form of a horse and saddle. I’m sure she’d throw on her jodhpurs, kick on her riding boots, and make her way effortlessly around town. Tootling around London on a pushbike, Lara keeps her cool in an on-trend, all-white ensemble. Mixing a tailored blazer, pale tee and cream cut-off shorts she nails casual summer chic. Add a sensible choice of flats, a preventative dust-in-eye choice of sunnies and a basket au lieu d’handbag, and that’s how you do bike-chic.
Bravo, Lara – yet another thing you do better.
