It has to be said: fashionisers loved lingerie as outerwear, in fact it’s been one of the most popular fashion trends we’ve written about of late. No, I don’t think it sent you all running to your lingerie draw in a bid to parade down the street wearing those cute little nothings you picked up at Agent Provocateur and Coco de Mer; but that’s not to say that we haven’t spotted some lingerie as outerwear street style.

It should come as no surprise the most popular of the underwear as outwear looks on the street has been exposed stay-ups and suspenders, and all for very good reason: it’s easy to do; when paired with shorts fits perfectly with the Spring/Summmer 2009 season. But most importantly is the the fact that it’s a head turning, risque look.

The above look comes from Kingdom of Style and is comprised of vintage leather shorts, DKNY suspenders and random over-knee socks. We’ve also spotted the look on Gala Gonzalez who again paired her exposed stockings, this pair by La Perla, which vintage shorts, this time denim Levi’s.

Wearing out nighties and slips sits, of course, with this fashion trend as well; but they do so as looks which are altogether more subtle and inarguably easier to pull off. But that doesn’t mean it has to be boring as blogger Luna Supernova proved with her rock-chic interpretation:

Her reason for wearing sleepwear as outwear is also spot on;

I love this Elle Macpherson Intimates slip. Although technically it falls under the category of sleepwear, i feel that if you love a thing enough nothing should deter you from wearing it as you choose.

Late one Oxford night Daniel P Dykes set about creating a fashion publication that would go someway to being an arbiter on fashion as it appeals to the emerging power generations: those who don't remember a world without the Internet and for whom work plays second fiddle to pleasure. And so Fashionising.com was born as a publication for those who were focussed not just on fashion's trends, but on society's too, and how those trends could all go to heighten the art of living. Hence, Daniel sees a future where, for those young at heart, both fashion and style are grounded in traditional quality, but with a youthful, sensualised edge. Daniel is Fashionising.com's Editor in Chief and Chairman.
