Living large

Live like a King. Dress like a Queen. Party like a rock star.

That is the precious life lesson Australia’s FashionTrend magazine wants you to chant.

Aptly featured in their latest ‘Disco’ themed issue, this two-tone shoot is bold, impenitent and celebratory.

The hair, the jewellery the make-up – so riveting is the nature of these images it’s impossible to point your finger at just one thing. The ongoing ‘80s theme of this edition or the anticipated holiday season, whatever conjures up its wild aesthetic, it’s working. Hair is crimped, coiled and up-in-the-air, while beauty rules have been broken by the manifested marriage between glittered eyes and dark lip hues. No holding back and no regrets.

Just as you thought the hair and make-up had said enough, a pair of studded fish bone earrings and zipped necklace outshine. Literally. Chunky neckpieces and headgear also feature in this beauty/accessory spread.

Shitika Anand is a freelance journalist, based in Sydney, who is addicted to coffee, vintage boutiques, bright-glitzy earrings and British stand-up comedy. Her bank account weeps every time she walks out of a shoe shop, but her shoe rack throws a 'welcome home' party for the new member. Her undying love for words is obvious when she narrates her entire life story to a stranger on the train. Which is partly the reason she's resorted to writing. When not blogging, she can be found in a corner of her nearest bookshop, hiding under a monstrous pile of international fashion magazines. You can read more of her work on her personal site, Sweet Dreams in my world.
