Mermaids are being plucked from the depths of mythology, from the pages of fairytales and legends, and transported to the present day. Across the world of fashion sequins, paillettes, pearls and metallics are being interpreted with an underwater theme, and our romance with the beauty of the sea creature has really only just begun.

Photographer Patricia Imbarus offers up her interpretation of the season’s oceanic undercurrent. Martyna Ziemska is the seductive mermaid, transposed to an urban setting. Forget the open sea and crashing waves; Ziemska has found her home in a bathtub, beautifully styled by Annalisa Frob Arcando.

Shimmering bronze eyeshadow and soft coral lips by Sanda Chercheja complete the mermaid transformation.

Some people's wardrobes are about a small selection of pieces that all fit within one aesthetic - Tania Braukamper isn't such a person. With a wardrobe that spans three different rooms, her approach to fashion is a mixture of current-season key pieces mixed with vintage finds she's sourced on innumerous shopping trips around the world's more cultured capitals. Despite a disparate approach to shopping, Tania is adamant that the key to mixing vintage with new season is to stick to key looks and colours that work for oneself. And it's a theory that she works into her writing for Fashionising.com, where she serves as the publication's Editor.
