Hitting the second catwalk of second of the official Melbourne Spring Fashion Week (MSFW) fashion parades, Dhini opened with a march and salute that proved that the military fashion trend is equally as strong for Spring/Summer 2009/2010 in Melbourne as it has been elsewhere.

LIFEwithBIRD and Gorman both presented relaxed collections, with infusions of cuts, brights and patterns not common for the season; though from Gorman did include a muted gold colour palette akin to the tone which had formed the crux of Ralph Lauren’s Spring/Summer 2009 collection.

Ginger & Smart‘s collection shared equal traits with Gorman and LIFEwithBIRD, though play suits, caftans and sheer elements all harked back to current or previous seasons.

Both Kirrily Johnston and Nicola Finetti provided the parade’s evening pieces, with everything from the mini-dress to floor length evening-ware included. While both presented a similar colour palette, Johnston’s cuts were the more relaxed of the two and also included a selection of menswear.

Late one Oxford night Daniel P Dykes set about creating a fashion publication that would go someway to being an arbiter on fashion as it appeals to the emerging power generations: those who don't remember a world without the Internet and for whom work plays second fiddle to pleasure. And so Fashionising.com was born as a publication for those who were focussed not just on fashion's trends, but on society's too, and how those trends could all go to heighten the art of living. Hence, Daniel sees a future where, for those young at heart, both fashion and style are grounded in traditional quality, but with a youthful, sensualised edge. Daniel is Fashionising.com's Editor in Chief and Chairman.
