Arizona Muse’s Self Service cover wasn’t just an empty promise. Deep down we were hoping the inside pages would delve further into 60s style hairdos and outfits, and we’re not in the least bit disappointed.
Self Service delivers with an editorial that pairs Muse with Daphne Groeneveld for more teased, bobby-pinned hair and thick clumpy lashes. Some of Alasdair McLellan’s shots are stunning in their elegant simplicity, while Suzanne Koller’s styling brings together the elements of the trend as we expect to see them. As we want to see them. They’re all represented in a minimal, modern way: Prada’s geometric tunic, the leather-trimmed leopard print coat, the clear plastic cape, the simple shift dresses and ladylike handbags.
But amoung all that, the hair is the true star. It’s what truly gives each look a sense of nostalgia, an injection of authentic ’60s cool. Master the art of back-combing, and you’ll be set.
Oh and for all those who thought we’d seen the last of kitten heels – you’re not out of the woods just yet.
