Wow, flashback to the 90s and Courtney Love’s band Hole singing Doll Parts. Such is the inspiration behind V Magazine‘s shoot of the same name. Somehow putting Natasha Poly in a Courtney Love tribute feels slightly weird to me; but not as weird as the seemingly shameless plug in the pictorial’s opening description:

“In an ode to the queen of grunge, whose new album is out this month, supermodel Natasha Poly piles on the ruffles, prints, and girlish fineries of Spring.”

In spite of the potentially questionable motivations of the shoot, it certainly does live up to its promise of ruffles and girlishness. Tying in the Doll Parts theme are interestingly created headpieces made from toy cars and barbie doll legs. Thankfully, there’s no smeared makeup to be seen.

Some people's wardrobes are about a small selection of pieces that all fit within one aesthetic - Tania Braukamper isn't such a person. With a wardrobe that spans three different rooms, her approach to fashion is a mixture of current-season key pieces mixed with vintage finds she's sourced on innumerous shopping trips around the world's more cultured capitals. Despite a disparate approach to shopping, Tania is adamant that the key to mixing vintage with new season is to stick to key looks and colours that work for oneself. And it's a theory that she works into her writing for Fashionising.com, where she serves as the publication's Editor.
