REBEL: an exclusive preview

Rebel. It’s one of those hard-working words that’s both a noun and a verb all at once. A rebel rebels against the norm, pushes the boundaries, and that’s what FASHIONTREND magazine are encouraging – nay, imploring – emerging creative talents to do. It is, in fact, the reigning theme of the magazine’s 24th issue.

The issue’s cover shoot is a particularly striking one. With a wickedly brave hair directive by Brad Ngata for L’Oreal Professional, along with perfectly matched slick cat eye makeup by the ever-wonderful Rae Morris, the overall beauty look is one that makes you sit up and take notice. Vass Arvanitis’ styling is laced with retro glamour and lawless cool but never once strays from being utterly polished; nor does Barnaby Wilshier’s photography, a perfect contrast to the gritty backdrops.

Some people's wardrobes are about a small selection of pieces that all fit within one aesthetic - Tania Braukamper isn't such a person. With a wardrobe that spans three different rooms, her approach to fashion is a mixture of current-season key pieces mixed with vintage finds she's sourced on innumerous shopping trips around the world's more cultured capitals. Despite a disparate approach to shopping, Tania is adamant that the key to mixing vintage with new season is to stick to key looks and colours that work for oneself. And it's a theory that she works into her writing for Fashionising.com, where she serves as the publication's Editor.
