Rag & Bone‘s collection for Spring 2011 didn’t gel together in the most coherent of ways… but it did pull out some completely unique and fresh-as-a-daisy takes on two fashion trends we thought we’d – almost – seen the back of: harnesses and exposed suspenders.

What made Rag & Bone’s interpretations so fresh was that their new takes on both lingerie as outerwear and bondage fashion were spun with a utilitarian, sporty feel. The ‘suspenders’ are indeed nude, tabbed shorts; the harnessed bras strapped tight with utility clip buckles.

Rag & Bone Spring 2011

Head-turning sporty looks aside, I was mourning a little the loss of Rag & Bone’s dandy elements. Is this a new direction the label intends to keep on with? We’ll be waiting to see.

Some people's wardrobes are about a small selection of pieces that all fit within one aesthetic - Tania Braukamper isn't such a person. With a wardrobe that spans three different rooms, her approach to fashion is a mixture of current-season key pieces mixed with vintage finds she's sourced on innumerous shopping trips around the world's more cultured capitals. Despite a disparate approach to shopping, Tania is adamant that the key to mixing vintage with new season is to stick to key looks and colours that work for oneself. And it's a theory that she works into her writing for Fashionising.com, where she serves as the publication's Editor.
