If there’s one thing I love particularly much about this outfit, it’s that it should look decidedly 1970s. Break it down to the elements and they’re all of that era: a white double-breasted jacket with wide lapels, the kind you might have spotted on Bianca Jagger; a floppy felt hat; and a low-slung belt around a garment that’s edged with fringing and longer than a top but shorter than a dress.

And yet for all those elements there’s something so crisply modern and minimal about the overall effect.

I think the outfit’s ability to feel modern comes down to the streamlined cuts, the crisp, fresh colours and the understatement of each piece.

Some people's wardrobes are about a small selection of pieces that all fit within one aesthetic - Tania Braukamper isn't such a person. With a wardrobe that spans three different rooms, her approach to fashion is a mixture of current-season key pieces mixed with vintage finds she's sourced on innumerous shopping trips around the world's more cultured capitals. Despite a disparate approach to shopping, Tania is adamant that the key to mixing vintage with new season is to stick to key looks and colours that work for oneself. And it's a theory that she works into her writing for Fashionising.com, where she serves as the publication's Editor.
