The autumn / winter 2012 collection from Australian designer Tovah takes the name Reminiscence. While viewing this location shoot will leave you no doubt that a vintage influence permeates every piece, it was reminiscence of a particular woman that sparked the collection: Tovah’s mother.

Tovah was inspired by a collection of photographs of her mother in “a bygone era, including a stint with high society in the prairie and lake country of Minnesota, USA. The result of this inspiration is a collection that infuses the refined, structured, waist-flattering silhouettes of the 1950s with the freedom of the ‘wild west’.”

That marriage of elegance and Western spawned, amoung other things, pleated skirts, prairie shirts, and a cape panelled in autumnal hues. It’s also the first collection of Tovah’s to include leather and fabric belts as accessories.

The pieces were captured in a fittingly rustic setting by photographer Warren Jopson. You can view more at the gallery above.

Some people's wardrobes are about a small selection of pieces that all fit within one aesthetic - Tania Braukamper isn't such a person. With a wardrobe that spans three different rooms, her approach to fashion is a mixture of current-season key pieces mixed with vintage finds she's sourced on innumerous shopping trips around the world's more cultured capitals. Despite a disparate approach to shopping, Tania is adamant that the key to mixing vintage with new season is to stick to key looks and colours that work for oneself. And it's a theory that she works into her writing for Fashionising.com, where she serves as the publication's Editor.
