Sapto Djojokartiko’s latest collection may shimmer with sequins and metallic embellishments, but the look book is firmly planted in the dark side. Against a woody backdrop the intricate craftsmanship of his gowns takes on the same qualities as the creeping branches and tangled vines of an enchanted forest. Djojokartiko’s Indonesian heritage shows through occasionally – and subtly – in references to traditional shapes.
