Perhaps, in their shoot for Muse magazine, photographer Mariano Vivanco and stylist Beth Fenton wanted to go against the grain. Perhaps they wanted to shun all of the relaxed, 70s influences we’re seeing everywhere – 2011’s bikini trends included – and fast forward a decade or so. For Sigrid Agren in That’s Right is certifiably the babe of the ’80s.
Or the ’90s perhaps. These are sporty swimwear cuts, paired with lots of denim (double, even), paired with big blonde hair and bright red lips. There’s even high-cut V shaped bikini bottoms (hold up – wasn’t I just writing about those cuts in reference to Bordelle lingerie? Coincidental, but I’m reluctant to call it a trend just yet). But while some of the styling hints at a revival we’re not yet ready to relive (again) the whole shoot is still perfectly captivating. The accessories, the jewellery, and much of the swimwear featured in very now, and the bold colours could be worn in more ways than one.
Add to that the healthy glow of summer sunlight filtering into each frame, and it’s a shoot well worth viewing. You can do so by, of course, picking up the summer 2011 issue of Muse; or by clicking on the thumbnails to peruse the full gallery of Sigrid Agren, ’80s beach babe.
