Given the dominance of the denim military jacket in this look I was quick to overlook it. Such a military fashion trend piece is, after all, nothing new (follow the link to find out the military style that’s replaced it for 2010). But look again and there’s a pairing that we’re beginning to see with increasing frequency: the military and sports trends.

Military street style

With a mini skirt and heels this particular fusion of military and sports isn’t as obvious as the last time we saw such an interpretation. And while that added to my original instinct to flick past this look, that instinct was wrong. The use of jersey fabric and sporty greys provides the perfect subtle layering to a much more dominant jacket.

With the pairing of sports and military looks growing in 2010 it would be well worth taking the time to polish up on the military and sports trends if you haven’t already.

Late one Oxford night Daniel P Dykes set about creating a fashion publication that would go someway to being an arbiter on fashion as it appeals to the emerging power generations: those who don't remember a world without the Internet and for whom work plays second fiddle to pleasure. And so Fashionising.com was born as a publication for those who were focussed not just on fashion's trends, but on society's too, and how those trends could all go to heighten the art of living. Hence, Daniel sees a future where, for those young at heart, both fashion and style are grounded in traditional quality, but with a youthful, sensualised edge. Daniel is Fashionising.com's Editor in Chief and Chairman.
