If there’s any one piece so far at Melbourne Spring Fashion Week (MSFW) that I want to run out and buy, it’s the cropped leather jacket sent down the runway by Kate Hurst. Ok, so I have a few already… but this one was right on trend. And having kept an eye on the leather jacket trend, it’s one I love.

But enough of that – there were other things to adore in Kate Hurst’s collection as well. Specifically, another bunch of cute, highly wearable mini-dresses. Ruffles have definitely emerged as a trend through Motorola Melbourne Spring Fashion Week, as have high-waists, florals and biker-chic leathers and zips. Hurst’s collection incorporated all these things. Though again nothing new or revolutionary, the dresses were pretty and flattering.

Some people's wardrobes are about a small selection of pieces that all fit within one aesthetic - Tania Braukamper isn't such a person. With a wardrobe that spans three different rooms, her approach to fashion is a mixture of current-season key pieces mixed with vintage finds she's sourced on innumerous shopping trips around the world's more cultured capitals. Despite a disparate approach to shopping, Tania is adamant that the key to mixing vintage with new season is to stick to key looks and colours that work for oneself. And it's a theory that she works into her writing for Fashionising.com, where she serves as the publication's Editor.
