Sublime nights

Whether or not you count yourself in the spandex bodysuit-wearing American Apparel fan base, you can’t deny the label’s success at branding. Their particular style is somewhere between fashion and vintage pornography, with more than a dash of hipster cool. To say Yusuf Butolli captures the mood and aesthetic of the brand in this shoot featuring all American Apparel wares would be a lie; he exceeds it. His sheer lace and swimsuit wearing girls are captured with a rawness that’s subtle, that’s softer than that of an American Apparel ad. And the results are all the better for it.
