When the temperature soars and the air becomes thick with summer’s growing humidity, a change starts to occur. People’s perceptions of what counts for daywear shifts along with the mercury. What may have felt daring for spring’s more moderate climate melts into the commonplace, and swimwear suddenly takes to the street – all at once a celebration of summer and a refuge from it.
Thankfully 2012′s bikini options are far reaching. It doesn’t matter if it’s a one-piece swimsuit or two-piece, you can accessorise it for the street as well as the beach. In this shoot by Kelly Defina for Fashionising.com, the concept of swimwear-as-streetwear is given a makeover by stylist Mercy Watson. A vintage high waist can just as easily be brought into the modern day with bold colour and edgy accessories; a bandeau bikini top finds a happy medium against relaxed crochet shorts.
With bubblegum hair and makeup by David Cranson adding to the youthful street wear vibe, model Zoey is truly ready to brave the heat in style.
