There’s a romance to silver glitter that transcends childishness or frivolity; it’s a sliver of moonlight, a sprinkling of stars, twinkling lights at a carnival, the straps on a flapper girl’s shoe. It can somehow be eternally fantastical when it dusts the eyelids and the lips are bare, bringing to the wearer not just youth, but magic. Planet Blue’s Holiday 2011 look book may be titled White Hot (and that, it darn well is) but it’s the silvery glitter worn with sparkling rhinestone jewellery and soft powder-blue lace that first takes hold of you. It only gets more white-hot from there.
White lace is accessorised by strings of gold body jewellery, or a soft tan leather harness; there’s sunlight filtering through sheer netting, necklaces worn as headpieces. And in case you weren’t yet immersed in Holiday sentiment, model Sydney Roper gets draped in a cloak of silver shredded tinsel and plastered with a consolation of gold stars.
The brands stocked by Planet Blue sweep far and wide, but they’re presented with such coherent styling that it’s near impossible not to find yourself wanting to go on holiday with the pieces in this look book. Don’t forget to pack that magic silver glitter.
