The emotive glamour of the screen stars of Hollywood’s golden age is an ever-springing well of inspiration. But, for all the Elizabeth Taylor and Sophia Loren lookalikes we see cropping up in the pages of magazines, they’re rarely looks translated to the consumer and to the street. Well, not in their entirety anyway. It’s rare to see a young consumer of fashion clicking heels down the street wearing a three-quarter pencil skirt, full-cupped corset, cardigan and 50s rolled up-do.
But, not all fashion shoots are purely instructional, some are simply made to inspire. This is one such shoot from the outfits to the mood of Vincent Peters’ photos which are finished in such an effect that they could almost be stills from a vintage Hollywood film set with drama and romance.
So while we may not have time in the morning to transform ourselves into a Hollywood goddess with the intense effectiveness of Isabeli Fontana as she appears in the September issue of Vogue Italia, we can certainly find inspiration in a visually stunning shoot such as this one. And, it must be said, Isabeli plays the character perfectly.
