The glamour of summer

While most people seem to board a jet to escape winter, I’ve found myself doing the opposite of late. To flip though my calendar would be to discover that I haven’t lived through a summer in over 2 years – as the warmer weather has come I’ve headed away from it, spending that time living through yet another winter. Duty calls. But then so does the sun. So perhaps it’s the longing for one decently warm day where the evening sun keeps a beach’s water warm and the sand isn’t too hot under foot, that summer 2011‘s romantically glamourised swimwear photo shoots are catching my eye.

The latest to leave me longing for a pair of Orlebar Brown trunks and a pair of Persols is Vogue Italia’s interpretation of the matter.

Featuring in their June 2011 issue, Greg Kadel has given the pages of Vogue Italia a bronzed and dreamy interpretation of cooling off in this summer’s heat. Photographed in California and featuring model Michaela Kocianova, while it’ll inspire you to find some pool side glamour this season we’d caution you to avoid the bling: seldom are water and your heirlooms practically paired.

He was 5 when his teacher wrote on his report card “Daniel can’t sit still.” Taking it as a compliment, he’s been on the go ever since. Having flown over 590,000 kilometres in a single year (2012), he’s done much to push the boundaries of a fashioniser, always looking to fold one extra Tom Ford suit into his set of Samsonite cases and for one extra occasion to tie a tie for. As much an editor-at-large as he is Fashionising.com’s Editor-in-chief, when he's not travelling to all the fashion weeks his passports will allow him to, Daniel works on guiding this publication’s editorial and trend views.
