Like much of fashion at the moment, the latest collection of eyewear from Tom Ford is retro infused, yet distinctly modern. Spring 2011 is a sweeping spectrum from vintage cat eye through to Ford’s luxury take on the classic aviator, and as usual there’s no real middle ground between the ultra-feminine styles and the ultra-masculine ones. That’s not to say they can’t cross genders – but that a Tom Ford frame is, even if a classic one, a strong one.

And some good news for the myopics and hyperopics (or indeed for those who wear optical frames purely as a fashion statement) – Ford has also released two new styles of ’60s-inspired spectacle based on the ones Colin Firth wore in A Single Man. Now all you need is the wardrobe and bachelor pad to go with them.

Some people's wardrobes are about a small selection of pieces that all fit within one aesthetic - Tania Braukamper isn't such a person. With a wardrobe that spans three different rooms, her approach to fashion is a mixture of current-season key pieces mixed with vintage finds she's sourced on innumerous shopping trips around the world's more cultured capitals. Despite a disparate approach to shopping, Tania is adamant that the key to mixing vintage with new season is to stick to key looks and colours that work for oneself. And it's a theory that she works into her writing for Fashionising.com, where she serves as the publication's Editor.
